Pumford Construction is honored and appreciative to have such wonderful, hardworking employees. Therefore, we are both proud and humbled to have one of our carpenter apprentices, Andrew Parkinson, acknowledged for his achievements. On January 26, 2010, at the Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, Andrew was recognized as the best of the best by being named Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Michigan’s Carpenter Apprentice of the Year. Along side of him stood three other young gentlemen representing the respective operating, bricklayer, and laborer apprentices in their field.
Pumford Construction Field Superintendent, Scot Jacobs, has worked with Andrew the majority of his time at Pumford Construction. In his letter of recommendation to the AGC of Michigan, he stated that “From the beginning, Andrew’s exceptional work ethic was evident not only to me, but also to the rest of the crew. There was no task too hard, too big, or too small for him to eagerly learn. Even with his limited experience, Andrew held his own with a crew of experienced journeymen. We also noticed how much he truly appreciated his job; instead of looking at each task as a chore, he was grateful to be given the opportunity to be involved. At one point I actually had to tell him to quit thanking me when I gave him direction for the day.”
Pumford Construction understands that great employees like this do not come along every day. We truly appreciate and value the hard work and expertise that fieldworkers like Andrew bring to our jobs and the value they add to our customers.
